Robin Dycus, Social Worker

Hello, my name is Robin Dycus.
 I am the school social worker for Hickory High. I have loved being a school social worker for Hickory Public Schools since 2002. I am a Master’s Level Licensed Social Worker with backgrounds in school social work, mental health, medical social work, and social services. My primary focus has always been helping teenagers, and their families, to be successful and reach their goals. I am also involved with Attendance Committee, Truancy concerns, Student Success Team, and teach a course Mindfulness.

What does a school social worker do?

School Social Workers are trained mental health professionals with a degree in social work who provide services related to students’ and/or family’s social, emotional, and life adjustments to school and/or society. School Social Workers are the link between the home, school, and community in providing direct as well as indirect services to students, families, and school personnel to promote and support students’ academic and social success.
