Tim Felton

I took my first Automotive class in 1989 at East Gaston High School in Gaston County, NC. I knew as a Sophomore I was going to be a teacher in the automotive field. I graduated CPCC as a GM ASEP student in 1994. Along with the GM ASEP program I also received an Associate of Applied Science in Automotive Technology Degree. In 1991 I recieved my first automotive position at Gowen Green Oldsmobile Cadillac. The shop service manager said I was hired on the spot and I asked him later what he seen in a freckle face 19 year old with no experience. He said, "at 19 years old you had automotive scars on your hands. You're a worker." Ever since that day I have strived to be the best. A couple years later we changed ownership and changed our name to Sonny Hancock. I received a Master Cadillac Automotive Technician award, Master ASE certificate and the highest customer satisfaction award that a technician can get from GM. I went from there to Duke Energy to work in a fossil fuel steam power plant. Over the years I decided it was time to be a business owner and became a Matco Tools distributor. For 9 years I got to meet pillars of our community and the everyday person. Today I am a Hickory High School Automotive instructor. Living a dream is what us teachers do and I am living it.
