Sally Rocco Ross teaches Orchestra and International Baccalaureate Music at Northview Middle and Hickory High School.  This is her 22nd year of teaching in Hickory.  She has previously taught at East Tennessee State University and Lenoir–Rhyne University and in the Kingsport, TN. Schools.  She is active as a performing cellist and currently performs with the Western Piedmont and Salisbury Symphony Orchestras holding the associate principal cello chair in each.  She has also performed with the Toledo, Knoxville, Winston-Salem and Asheville Symphonies and plays each summer in the Lakeside (Ohio) Festival Orchestra.

Mrs. Ross holds a bachelor’s degree in Cello Performance from the University of Toledo (OH ) and a Master’s Degree in Cello Performance from Northwestern University (IL).  She also holds a Master of Education degree from Milligan College (TN).  She is active as a clinician having conducted the Guilford, Mecklenburg, Forsyth, Henderson and Eastern North Carolina Honors Orchestras.  Mrs. Ross was named an Orchestra Director of the Year by the NCMEA Orchestra Section in 2008.  She lives in Hickory with her husband John and their remarkable canine, Grracie T. Dog.
